PRENATAL VISITS

We would arrange our first meeting around 33 weeks gestation. This is a great time to get to know each other, ensure you are comfortable and answer any questions. The conversation is lead by you, to ensure you are learning the topics that are of interest and relevant to you.

Some suggested topics would include:

  • challenges of late pregnancy

  • the process of labour and birth

  • hands-on comfort strategies and massage techniques

  • medical procedures

  • decision-making

  • cesarean birth

The next prenatal visit would be at 37 weeks. At this time, we would discuss:

  • what my support would look like for you and your partner (if applicable)

  • your birth preferences

  • what to expect at your chosen place of birth

  • what to pack for the hospital/ set up for a homebirth

  • the immediate postpartum

BIRTH ATTENDANCE

I am available to you and your partner 24/7 from the time of hire until 6 weeks after your baby arrives.

After hiring, I ask that I am added to a text message thread with you and your partner to ensure regular communication throughout pregnancy and during early labour.

Once labour has begun, I would join you at home or the hospital when you need extra hands-on support.

My role during this time is to ensure your birth preferences are known to your support team and remind you of your options when decisions arise. I also record labour notes and timeline, which can be useful to reference postpartum if you would like to recall or unpack your birth experience.

At your request and with your permission, I can capture first photos with your baby or of the labour and birth process (on your phone or partners)

To enhance your comfort and create your ideal birth environment, I have access to a doula bag full of tools, including the use of a TENS machine, massage items and oils, candles, snacks for energy, fans and heat pads, and  speakers for music.

I would remind you to breathe, rest, move, hydrate, eat, and surrender to the birth process.

HOME BIRTH

If a home birth is desired, I will supply the following items at no extra charge:

  • La Bassine professional birth pool

  • La Bassine cover to retain heat in the pool

  • Tap adapters

  • Submersible pump

  • Debris net

I DO NOT include the following items as they are one time use items due to their biohazard nature

  • A hose to empty the pool after birth

  • La Bassine liners (Can be purchased through me, if desired for $50)

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

After the birth of your baby, I stay with you until you are comfortably settled, help with the first feeding, discuss newborn care, and ensure you and your partner are comfortable and nourished. For home births, I ensure the space remains cozy and assist with any immediate cleanup or tear down.

As a postpartum doula, I am CPR-C and AED certified and have a clean criminal background check, including vulnerable sector. My goal is to support you and your family as you rest and heal from the birth, provide nourishment, education, time for self-care and bonding with your newborn.

  • Assisting with breastfeeding or formula feeding.

  • Offering practical help with household chores, bottle sterilization, laundry, and meal preparation to ease the transition into parenthood.

  • Educating new parents on newborn care, including bathing, diapering, and soothing techniques
